Here's a look at the stuff going on this weekend! 

The Knights of Columbus are hosting their annual Fish Fridays.

They will have baked and fried fish, fried potato wedges and homemade chips, mac and cheese, vegetables, cole slaw and corn bread.  Coffee, tea, lemonade and water included.  Homemade desserts by Sacred Heart Parents, for a free will donation.  Ticket prices are $9.50 for adults, and children 5-10 years of age are $5.  Tickets can be bought at the Rectory, Wine and More, Equity Bank, or McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.  Tickets are also available from Sacred Heart Senior parents, the Knights of Columbus, the Daughters of Isabella, and also at the door.  It’ll be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1708 Elm Hills Blvd, at the corner of Hwy 65 and Elm.

A Wild Horse and Burro Adoption event will be held in Jackson, Missouri.

It’ll be on February 22 and 23 at the Flickerwood Arena in Jackson.   Saturday Adoption will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Adoption is first come, first served.  From I-55, take the Fruitland exit and go north past the Drury Inn on the outer road that runs along the west side for about three miles.  For more information, call 866-4MUSTANGS (866-468-7826) or go to blm.gov

The Smith Cotton Dress Exchange will take place Saturday.

It’ll be held on Saturday, February 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Drop your clothing, accessories and handling fees off at the Smith Cotton Vocal Room. Price your new or gently used formal, bridal wear, cocktail dresses, tuxedo, shoes and accessories.  Make a $5 donation per clothing item or a $2 donation per accessory or pair of shoes.  If your item is sold during the event, SCCS will pay your asking price.  Join them for the Dress Exchange on Saturday, February 23.   Proceeds from this event will benefit the Choral Society, proud boosters of the Smith Cotton Vocal Music Department.  For more information or for an alternate clothing drop off time, call Julie at 619-0007.

There will be a Veterans Recognition Day Program on Sunday, February 24.

There will also be a pie auction to follow the program.  All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project and the VFW Veterans Service Officer Program.  There will be a ham and bean dinner from 1-4, and 2, the recognition program will begin.  This will be held at the VFW in downtown Sedalia.

The 42nd Annual Loafer’s Convention is coming to Green Ridge.

It’ll be held on Saturday, February 23 for one day only, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. They’ll have a silent auction which will close at 6:00 p.m., and a chicken dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  It’s $7 per dinner and includes chicken, bread, coffee or tea and a choice of three sides: green beans, cole slaw, potato salad, applesauce or cottage cheese.  They’ll also be serving sandwiches  hot dogs, chili dogs, chili, chips and desserts. It’ll be  a day of loafing, playing cards or the game of your choice (bring your own cards and games).  There will be a Chamber of Commerce membership drive and fire department donations will be taken.  Free coffee, tea and peanuts.  Sponsored by the Green Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

The Loyal Rebekah Lodge #260 will have their Chili and Soup Supper.

They will have chili or vegetable beef soup with a choice of homemade dessert and drinks with hot dogs available.  For an adult, the cost is $5, and children under 5 years of age eat for for free.  It’ll be held on Saturday, February 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lodge, 901 East 13th street.

The American Legion and Auxiliary Post 305 will have a barbecue pork and turkey dinner.

It’ll be held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on February 23rd at the American Legion Building of Cole Camp.  Advance tickets for adults are $8, and children 6-12 are $3, pre-school children eat for free.  Ticket price goes up one dollar at the door.  Matching funds from Thrivent Financial.  Drawing for Savage Axis XP 20-06 Rifle will also be held.  Get your tickets in Cole Camp from Dean’s Barber Shop, Mora Lumber, Heet Gas, TJ’s Quick Stop, and Heimsoth Feeds.  Get your tickets in Lincoln from Kent Kullman Barber Shop and Producers Exchange #84 (also in Ionia).

St Paul’s Lutheran School will have a Spaghetti Dinner and Dessert Auction.

I’tll be held at the School, at 701 South Massachusetts on Sunday, February 24.  The Spaghetti Dinner will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a free will donation.  There will be a dessert auction at 12:15 p.m. with some local business items up as well.  All donations will support the ongoing ministry of St Paul’s Lutheran School, which receives no government monies. The next meeting of the West Central Missouri Genealogical  Society will be February 25.

Helen Cunningham will present the program “Conversations with the Veterans at the Warrensburg Veterans Home” .  They will meet at the Church of Christ in the lower level, 722 South Maguire (old Highway 13) in Warrensburg.  Refreshments will be served at 7:00 p.m.,  the program starts at 7:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome.
