Sedalia’s Weekend Events – Weekend of January 10

Here's a look at what's going on in our area this weekend! 

The La Monte R-IV Board of Education is hosting their annual soup/chili supper on Friday, January 10.

It’ll be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the new gymnasium during the homecoming basketball game between the La Monte Vikings and the Wentworth Dragons.  Dinners are $4 and include dessert, drink, and an entree choice of chicken noodle soup, chili, hot dog, chili dog, baked potato or chili baked potato.  Additional entrees are available for $2 with a dinner purchase.  All proceeds fund scholarships for the 2014 senior class.

The Boonslick Regional Library will hold a book sale.

Friends of the Library book sale will be held January 10 from noon to 5:00 p.m. and January 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room.  The cost is $4 a bag.  Proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase new book bins for the Children’s Department.  For more information, call 660-827-7323.

Boy Scout Troop 54 will spend the night in the parking lot of the Sedalia Walmart Supercenter to collect donations for the Community Cafe.

They’ll be camped out on Friday, January 10 from 5:30 p.m. to Saturday January 11 at 10:00 a.m.  Please help by bringing canned goods or paper products.  For more information, please call Peter at 660-888-3765.

The Sedalia Bulldogs will hold a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser.

It’ll be held on January 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m at the Sedalia Moose Lodge #1494 for a cost of $5.  Donations are welcome.  The fundraiser is for the purchase of new uniforms for the Boys Basketball teams in 1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th grades.

People who have experienced a loss can better understand their grief and find the support they need to cope with the death through a 10-week Grief Support Group and Seminar.

Each week participants will learn about a different topic and have the opportunity to support one another. Participants who attend the seminar will learn about the grieving process, how to handle significant anniversaries and build support systems, in addition to other topics. The new structure gives people the ability to learn how to cope without the pressure of having to share their own personal experiences, unless they feel compelled to do so. While participants benefit most from attending all 10 sessions, anyone is welcome to join the group throughout the seminar. Meetings are free. Call 660-829-8855 for more information or to register.
