Here are the happenings for this weekend! 

10th and Thompson Car Wash would like to salute our Veterans and active duty all day Sunday November 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day by giving them a free car wash. 

Simply pull into one of the 3 automatic bays, mention you’re a vet or active duty, and receive a free car wash! This is 10th and Thompson’s way of saying thanks for your dedication, sacrifice, and service.

The Smithton Schools are raising money for their all-night lock in party for graduates in May.

One of the activities for the fundraising process is a  Silent Auction/Hog Roast.  It’ll be held on Saturday, November 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the school.  Tickets are $10 each and all the proceeds go to the Senior Class.

The Annual Barbecued Pork and Turkey Dinner will be held on Saturday, November 10.

It’ll take place at the American Legion Hall, Post 305 of Cole Camp.  They’ll be serving dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Adult advance tickets are $8, adult tickets at the door go up a dollar.  Children’s ticket prices for ages 5-12 are $3, under 5 eat for free.   This is sponsored by the Lake Creek Volunteer  Fire Department. This is co-sponsored by the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The Moose Lodge is holding a Fish Fry Fundraiser for CASA on Saturday, Nov 10.

It’ll take place from 5-7 p.m. The event is open to the public. Menu is fish, baked beans, cole slaw, fried potatoes, and hush puppies. $8 a plate.

All Marines and former Marines, or anyone who was attached to a Marine unit in this area: All are cordially invited to the Marine Corps Birthday Party.

It’ll be held on Saturday, November 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion, Post 642, located at 2016 West Main.  All guests are also invited.  For further information, call Allen Hawkins at 826-2254 or 827-2750.  Dinner will be served.

The churches of Harmony Baptist Association will celebrate the worldwide missions this weekend and part of next week. 

Several churches will host visiting missionaries from Southeast Asia, Africa, Taiwan and other foreign regions, as well as missionaries working in the United States. They will be speaking at several churches.  Call Harmony Baptist Association at 826-2070 for more information.

The Annual Weaver's and Spinner's Holiday Exhibition is coming up.

The Columbia Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild is having their 23rd Annual Holiday Exhibition and Sale Nov. 9, 5:30-7:30 pm; Nov. 10, 9-4; Nov. 11, 11-3, at the Boone Historical Society Museum, 3801 Ponderosa St. in Columbia.  Free and open to the public.

The Liberty Center Association for the Arts production of “Chicago” final weekend is  running Thursday, November 8 through Sunday November 11. 

Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. except on Sundays with a matinee at 2 p.m.   Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the Liberty Center at 111 West Fifth in Downtown Sedalia or via telephone at (660) 826-2899. The lively musical is set in prohibition Chicago and tells the story of the starlet Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly who end up imprisoned with hopes of making it big with the help of their slick lawyer, Billy Flynn.  Join us at the Liberty Center.  The Lona Lounge will open an hour before show time and will feature a variety of beer, wines, and other soft drinks, popcorn and candy.  Our “Chicago” special will be a “Cellblock Survival Kit” which will include bread and water.Ticket office hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and an hour before show time.
