Here's a look at what's coming up in our area this weekend.

The Pettis County Pachyderms will have their next meeting.

The program at the 12:00 P. M. Friday meeting of the Pettis County Pachyderm  on November 14th will be Sedalia Police Officer Larry Parham will speak on gang activity in Pettis County. The Sedalia Young Professionals invite you to join them in serving the community.

They’ll have several food drives for the Open Door Food Bank. On November 14 they’ll be at the Sedalia Woods from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Through November 17 you can drop food off at Bryant Motors, McCarthy Toyota, Rick Ball Ford, WK Chevrolet, and Reader’s World.  All forms of donations are accepted, but the Open Door’s greatest needs are non perishable food items and diapers.

State Fair Community College will recognize active and retired military at the Roadrunners’ Stone Laser Imaging Classic basketball games Nov. 14 in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.

All active and retired military and their families will get in free with military IDs. Whiteman Air Force Base Col. Judy Stoltmann, 509th Medical Group Commander, and her husband Steve plan to attend the Military Appreciation Night game.  The Lady Roadrunners tip off against Wabash Valley College at 5:30 p.m., and the Roadrunners play Westminster College at 7:30 p.m.  In honor of Fan Appreciation Night Nov. 15, all fans will receive a special Roadrunner spirit item and cookies.  The Lady Roadrunners play Independence Community College at 5:30 p.m., and the Roadrunners’ game against Quakerdale Prep is at 7:30 p.m.   Regular admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students 13-18. Children 12 and under and in-district residents 60 and older get in free. SFCC students and employees are admitted free with BLUECARDS. For more information, call (660) 530-5808.

There will be a Community Dance on November 14. 

It’ll be held from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Convention Hall in Liberty Park.  The cost is a free will donation.  Please bring a dish for the potluck.  Music will be provided by John Cecilia and the Country Ordraras. All proceeds will benefit the Sedalia Senior Center.

The Leeton United Methodist Men’s group will be hosting a Deer Hunter’s Breakfast.
It will be held on opening day of Firearms season this November 15, 2014 from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.  This is a FREE WILL donation to support our various outreach missions. The menu will include Biscuits and Gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs,homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee and fruit drink.  Soup and sandwiches after 12pm.  TO GO plates are available.  We are located in Leeton at 120 N. Project Parachute was started by Harmony Baptist Association to show support and say Thank You to our Veterans.
They send care packages five times a year and over 7500 cards to deployed servicemen and women.  All veterans are invited to North 65 Cafe on Saturday, November 15 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to join in the recognition ceremonies.  Free slices of pie will be provided to all veterans with military ID.
The LaMonte American legion Post 520 is offering a Hunter’s Breakfast and Bake sale.
It’ll be held from 4:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m on Saturday, November 15 at the Community Center in LaMonte.  The menu will include biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage links or patties, orange juice, milk or coffee.  The cost is $5 and carry outs will be available.  Homemade baked goods will also be available for purchase.
The Friends of the Boonslick Regional Library will host a book sale.
It’ll take place on Saturday, November 15 from 9:00 a.. to 3:00 p.m.  in the library Meeting Room.  The sale will include fiction, some non fiction, children’s and teen’s books, cookbooks, audio books, videos and more.  Proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase  new book bins for the Children’s Department.  They will accept donations of gently used books for the sale on November 10 and 12th during library hours.  For information, call 827-7323.
There will be a Hunter’s Breakfast and Hunter’s Widow Lunch on November 15.
It’ll be held at the First United Methodist Church at 4th and Osage.  The breakfast will be held from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for a cost of $5, and will include biscuits and gravy and a drink.  The lunch will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with chili or soup, drink and dessert for $5.  There’s also a carry out hunter’s special of an egg and cheese biscuit.  This is a benefit for the Venture Crew #216 of Sedalia.

The FUMC will host a Holiday Bazaar / Bake Sale to benefit the Care Ministry.

The Care Ministry’s mission is to guide and encourage our church family to be involved in practical acts of kindness. We minister through cards, visits, & outreach.  They  prepare and deliver Blessing Bags (care packages) to hospital patients, visit individuals who are home-bound and residents of care facilities, create and send handmade cards for a variety of circumstances and occasions. They also coordinate monthly Celebration of Worship at Winchester Meadows,  extend appreciation to individuals and target groups through activities and handmade gifts and provide devotional books to persons going through difficult times.  The Bazaar will be held at the Celebration Center on  Saturday November 15, 2014 from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.   They’ll have Home Baked Goods, Sweet Packaged Treats & Silent Auction, including candy bouquets.   If you have any questions or would like to help the group, call  Karen at 287-0570.
Ditch the mall and deck the halls for the Jingle and Mingle Shopping Bizarre.
This event will feature over twenty different vendors, working to raise funds for the Community Santa program.  Community Santa collects toys and donations for children in our community who are in need.  With your help they want to ensure that every child in our community has the promise of a magical day.  Jingle and Mingle will have drawings for free fabulous items, treats and lots of Holiday Fun.  You can do your holiday shopping and support local businesses.  It’ll take place on Saturday, November 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  below El Espolon 2, 3501 West Broadway.  For more information, contact  Rhiannon at 660-221-0486.
