Kids, there seems to be always something happening in our area.  You just might not know about what's going on!  So, here's a list of some of the stuff that's happening 'round in our parts. 

The Windsor United Methodist Women’s Annual Holiday Bazaar is coming up. 

It’ll be held on Saturday, November 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  They’ll have crafts, homemade candy, and a bake sale all at the Windsor United Methodist Church, 216 South Main Street, in Windsor.

The La Monte R-IV is hosting their annual Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, Nov 17. 

I’tll be held at noon at the school cafeteria.  La Monte patrons 55  and older are invited to attend.  Carry out orders or delivery will be available. Call the school office at 660-347-5439 to  make reservations to attend, for carryout orders, or to receive delivery meals (deliveries will be made after 1:00 p.m. on November 17).

Come join in on a family chili supper with The Quinn Chapel Church.

Chili and fixings will be served, please bring your own table service.  $4 per bowl.  $1 tickets for first, second, and third place baskets will be sold at the supper or see a Choir Member for additional tickets.  It’ll take place on Saturday, November 17 from 12:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. at  the Quinn Chapel AME Church, 512 West Johnson.

The 35th Annual Ham and Bean Dinner, sponsored by the St Patrick’s Church, will be held Saturday, Nov 17.

It’ll be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  The ticket price will be $6.50 for an adult, and $2 for children, with family rates available.   The all you can eat dinner includes slaw, cornbread, dessert and drink.  There will also be homemade vegetable soup and ham sandwiches with dessert and drink available. Also stop by visit our popular Country Store featuring crafts, baked goods, woodworking, crocheting, kitchen items, or knick knacks during the dinner.  Raffle tickets will be for sale as well for a queen size quilt, a Craftsman 6 foot, two drawer cabinet, and two $50 Bing’s gift certificates.

The Celebration Center is hosting a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 17.

It’ll be held from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 1701 West 32nd street. They’ll have home baked goodies galore, hand crafted gifts and decor and a silent auction.   They’ll have a delicious chili and dessert bar from 11 to 2.  Free child care is available in the nursery from 9 to 1.  All proceeds benefit the First Church Care Ministry.

Bothwell holds  a class for safe babysitting. 

Bothwell Regional Health Center will hold a Safe Sitter babysitting education class from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. The class will be in Bothwell’s Education Center at 600 E. 14th St., the former Children’s Therapy Center. The Class is designed to educate adolescents to prepare them for babysitting. Curriculum was recently updated to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation.  Students also learn about injury management, childcare essentials, injury prevention, behavior management, the business of babysitting and how to care for a choking child or infant. Course materials are designed for children ages 11 to 13. Cost for the class is $35, which includes a messenger bag containing babysitting essentials. Scholarships are available.

The Katy Depot Mitten Train is ready for donations. 

The historic Katy Depot will again host the annual Holiday Mitten Train to benefit local children in need. This year’s event will kick off on Saturday, Nov. 17 with a holiday open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Depot, 600 E. Third St.

St Paul's Lutheran in Sedalia is having a Baby Shower. 

Do you have a new baby in the family? Let us celebrate with you! Come to St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sedalia on Sunday, Nov 18th at 3 pm. We’ll play new baby games, have gifts for you and your baby and then enjoy some light refreshments. We want to celebrate with your family.

The Skate for Stacie will take place at the Wheel Thing Skate Center at 3600 South Grand.

It’ll take place on Sunday, November 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Minimum donation of $6 for skating, and all proceeds go to Stacie Bachtel Reynolds.  Door prizes to be drawn that day, you don’t need to be present to win.  Refreshments will be available for purchase.  Stacie has lung cancer and is receiving chemo treatments regularly.  Join us for this open skate for Stacie, one of the original Rink Rats.  For more information, call Donna at 473-2465 or Connie at 827-3223.

The I-70 Cowboy Church will have their next dinner and meeting this weekend. 

Join us this Sunday, November 18, for the I-70 Cowboy Church Fellowship & Worship Round-up.  We will meet at the Sweet Springs American Legion Building (corner of Marvia @ Miller – one block south of I-70 exit 66) beginning at Noon with a fellowship meal and music followed by a time of worship.  This week’s menu includes:  turkey and dressing.

The Care Connection for Aging Services is looking for volunteers. 

They are asking for anyone with experience in helping people or people who have worked for businesses that have provided meals to the public.  If you want to get out of the house on occasion and enjoy talking to people, they ask if you would consider making a difference at the Senior Center.  They need home delivered meal drivers, home delivered meal helpers, receptionists, beverage bartenders, dish washers, cooler carriers, event helpers, piano players and so on.  There is always a need.  For more information, call Courtney Anstine at 826-0713 or email canstine@goaging.org
