Severe Storms Cause Damage In Pettis and Cooper County
Severe storms pushed through West Central Missouri through the afternoon. There were two tornado warnings issued at around 3:15 p.m for Pettis and Cooper Counties.
The Sedalia/Pettis County Emergency Management received reports of power lines and trees down along North 65 and Mt. Herman Road and shut down roads in that area for a period of about an hour, while linemen repaired the power.
According to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office, emergency crews were forced to shut down US65 highway north of Sedalia for about 30 minutes to remove damaged power lines from the roadway. Storms that damaged trees and power lines in the area.
Both north and southbound lanes of US65 will need to be closed again later this evening (Oct. 1) for repairs. Motorists planning to travel through that area should plan for delays or take an alternate route
KCP&L reported about 200 customers were without power in West Central Missouri as of 7:30 p.m.
