“I am excited about the players that we have coming,” said Beltran. “We have many players from the region, but we also have a few players from outside Missouri who will add to the flavor of the program. We’ve added some talent; now we will see how it all comes together."

Four players are from Sedalia, Shelby Bain, Jessica Coble, Kassie Wehmeyer, and Kiara Williams. Ally Brown is from Kansas City, and Karina Esquivel is from Jefferson City. Raleigh Johns comes from Osage Beach. Cierra Sawyers is from Warsaw, and Trinity Sigler is from Waynesville.

Two Texas natives round out the freshmen class. Bianca Meza and Kimberly Rosas are from El Paso.

Beltran had specific qualities he was looking for throughout the recruiting process.
“We look for players who are willing to learn,” said Beltran. “We also want players who are willing to listen to the things that we want to do, even if those things are a little bit different from what they have done before.

“The character of the student-athletes is also very important. We want players who will make us proud on and off the field. If you start out with the right people, everything else can fall in place. On the field, we look for players who understand playing with possession, have good field vision and know or are willing to learn how to make the right pass. We want to maintain possession of the ball and build from there."

Lady Roadrunner fans can see the team play at William Woods University in Fulton in an exhibition game at 5 p.m. Aug 16. The team’s home opener is at 2 p.m. Aug. 31 against Barton Community College from Kansas at SFCC’s Sports Complex west of the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
