Daniel Martin and Wendy Sanchez will assist with both the women and men’s programs.

Martin most recently served as a men and women’s soccer assistant coach at Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau and the Director of Coaching for United Soccer of Southeast Missouri in Jackson from August 2016 to the present. He educates club coaches and hosts clinics based on the United Soccer Coaches (formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America) and US Youth Soccer models.

From August 2005 to July 2016, Martin served as the head men and women’s soccer coach at Cape Girardeau High School. He holds several diplomas and certifications from United Soccer Coaches – a Level Six Diploma, a Goalkeeper Level Three Diploma and a Director of Coaching Diploma and is active in the organization. He earned a Special Top Certification in mental toughness, a Missouri Youth Soccer Certification and Dutch Style of Play Philosophy School Certification.

Martin brings a variety of playing experience to his new position. He began his collegiate career at SFCC where he played in 2000 and 2001 and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. He played Division I soccer at the University of Louisville in 2002 and 2003 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration. He is a graduate of CBC High School in St. Louis.

“Dan brings a lot of knowledge about SFCC and the Sedalia community from his time here as a student-athlete,” said Beltran. “He also has head coaching experience for both men and women at the high school level. He will be an asset to our program.”

Sanchez served as an assistant coach for the Canutillo High School varsity girls team in 2017. She devised game plans, strategies and tactics and trained the backline on accurate defensive techniques, shape and formation adjustments. With an overall record of 15-6-0, the team finished third in District 2-4A and earned a playoff bid. Sanchez led the defensive backline to 12 shutouts..

In 2016, Sanchez served as an individual and group private soccer trainer while working for the Chicago Edge Soccer Club. She taught technical and tactical skills and analyzed players’ strengths and weaknesses.

Sanchez brings experience working with young students and teaching them soccer basics as a coach at the Park District Soccer Camp in River Forest and Oak Park, Illinois, where she served in 2015 and 2016.

She graduated in 2016 from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science and a nutrition minor. She holds United States Soccer Federation E and F licenses.

Sanchez played collegiate soccer at Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena from 2010-2011, at Ranger College in Ranger, Texas, from 2011-2012, at Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois, from 2013-2014, and at Dominican University from 2014-15.

“Wendy played for me as a sophomore my first year at Ranger College,” said Beltran. “She was on a team at Ranger that broke a lot of records. I know that her goal is to coach. Her experience playing at the two-year and four-year college level will be a good resource for our players.”
