State Fair Community College sophomore first baseman Jacob Mitchell has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Longwood University, a Division I school in Farmville, Virginia.

He becomes the fifth Roadrunner to sign a National Letter of Intent.

In his only season at SFCC, Mitchell helped the Roadrunners to a 33-24 record and the first sub-regional series victory since the resumption of the program in 2017. He played in 53 games at SFCC.

The Mountain Grove native was a cornerstone of the offense for the Roadrunners. He led SFCC in home runs with 11 and tied for the team lead in runs batted in with 49 while hitting .340. Mitchell led the team in slugging percentage at .647 and scored 47 runs.

He registered a .441 on base percentage and finished third on the team in doubles with 11. He led the team in total bases with 101 and extra-base hits with 24.

“Jacob will be a great offensive addition to the lineup at Longwood,” said head coach Jud Kindle. “He possesses good leadership qualities.”
