Missouri State Fair Aims to Increase Canned Food Collections in 2013
The Missouri State Fair will be increasing its efforts to collect canned food this year as it joins in a challenge presented by its industry trade association. Fair Director Mark Wolfe said today that members of the International Association of Fairs and Festivals have been invited to participate in its campaign, Dream Big, which has set an industry-wide goal of collecting 20 million pounds of food at fairs and festivals held in 2013.

Boeing Expected to Add 400 Jobs to St. Louis County Location
LE BOURGET, France – Governor Jay Nixon, in France as part of the administration’s trade mission to Western Europe, today announced that one of Missouri’s top employers and global brands is set to embark upon a significant expansion at its St. Louis County location. Aerospace giant Boeing, which employs approximately 15,000 workers at its local campus, will be opening an information technology center at its St. Louis location that will bring at least 400 jobs to the area. The company’s plan is part of a large-scale restructuring of its information technology operations, which are currently located in Seattle.
Lady Roadrunners Return Six for 2013-2014 Season
The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners will return a solid group of student athletes for the 2013-2014 season.
Guards Antoinette Taylor, Adella Randle-EL, Sannayiah Johnson and Apiphany Woods return in the backcourt, and Tiana Jones and Asia Mosley will return to anchor the frontcourt. Every returning player has started multiple games in a Lady Roadrunner uniform.
Black Bear Confirmed in Vernon County
Nevada, Mo. – A black bear is wandering in rural Vernon County in west central Missouri. Several residents in the Walker community northeast of Nevada have reported seeing the bear. Conservation Agent Justin Fogle confirmed the sighting by finding bear tracks in a corn field on Wednesday, June 5.

WASHINGTON – Vocci Italian Food Products, a Kansas City, Mo. establishment is recalling approximately 2,025 pounds of lasagna products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The products are formulated with bread crumbs that contain egg, a known allergen, which is not declared on the label.

Governor Jay Nixon Declares a State of Emergency for Missouri
Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency in Missouri as a widespread severe weather system continued to move across the state, bringing heavy rain, hail, straight-line winds, flooding and radar-indicated tornadoes. This severe weather follows several days of heavy rain throughout much of the state, leading to flooding along many streams and rivers. The severe weather threat continues tonight (June 1) in parts of Missouri, and is likely to continue tomorrow for much of the state.
