SHS Advances to First Lego League Championship Meet

Sacred Heart’s “Bionic Builders” attended the First Lego League Hydrodynamics competition in Nixa, Mo., on September 18, taking first place in the presentation category of the competition, and earning a berth to the First Lego League Championship in Camdenton, Mo., on December 16.

The team, comprised of students in grades 4-6, was tasked with identifying a challenge pertaining to water and coming up with innovative solutions. Participants were judged on robot design, project and core values. SHS’s Bionic Builders competed against 30 schools of all sizes across the southwest region of the state. With the exception of one member, this was the first Lego League competition for the team. This is the fourth year that SHS has competed in First Lego League and the first time that SHS has advanced to the First Lego League championship.

The team is coached by SHS faculty members, Mariela Messina and Zoey Plummer.
