Smith-Cotton’s Alex Beard won the boys meet and Grace Edgar was second in the girls meet Saturday in the Smith-Cotton Invitational at Clover Dell Park.

The S-C boys varsity team took second place, finishing just three points behind Hermitage. Beard took top honors, finishing in 17:20. Other medalists for the Tigers: Nathan White, sixth; Martin Zalpa, eighth; Irvin Zalpa, 11th; Jose Fernando, 12th; Abraham Fernando, 14th; and George Gomez, 15th.

The Lady Tigers finished second, with Warsaw taking first behind Ashlee Kuykendall’s meet-winning time of 19:46. Edgar ran 21:26. Also medaling for S-C was Gracie Mahalovich, who finished 15th. Twelve teams competed in the meet.

The S-C boys won the JV meet with a perfect score of 15 points. Gary McKinsey was first, followed by Ethan beard, Marcelo Fernando, Carson Lewellyn and Joseph Rae.
Smith-Cotton Head Coach Tara Clark said, “It was a great day and a great competition. I am super proud of the team.”
