Smith-Cotton High School’s boys track team finished in fifth place in Saturday’s Class 4 District 5 track meet in Jefferson City, and saw four individual performers qualify for the sectional meet. For the girls, Marionna Ward qualified in three events – the 100-meter high hurdles, the 300-meter low hurdles and as a member of the 4x100-meter relay with Mekeba Nash, Sarah Hughes and Drae Marcum.

S-C’s Albert Nash won the boys long jump event with a jump of 21 feet, 4.75 inches. Zac Volk was second in pole vault with 12 feet, 6 inches; also taking second was Chance Johnson in high jump, finishing at 6 feet, 2 inches. Luke Guier qualified in two events: the 200-meter dash, where he was fourth (23.23), and the 400-meter dash, where he was third (50.53).

Ward was second in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.22) and the 300-meter hurdles (45.86). The relay team was fourth (51.00).

The sectional meet is set for May 24 in Eldon
