The UCM Mules weren't the only local team to win a championship this weekend. Smith-Cotton High School's Team SCREAM won the FIRST Oklahoma Regional robotics championship and are headed to the FIRST Robotics World Championship in St. Louis.

Smith-Cotton instructional technology teacher and team adviser Michael Wright, nine student team members and their robot were a late addition to the competition. The team went 9-1 in qualifying matches, earning the number three ranking out of 62 teams for the alliance selection rounds. Team SCREAM were allied with the Lightsabers from Oklahoma City and the Robot Mafia of Bixby, Okla. The alliance would go on to win their remaining matches and claim the regional championship.

All three teams will be heading to the FIRST Robotics World Championships at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis Apr 23-26, where roughly 400 teams from around the world will compete.
