Riding a five-game winning streak coming into the game, the Gremlins turned in their most complete performance of the year, beating an ever improving Smithton team 7-0.

The first half began with a back and forth midfield battle with Smithton getting several offensive chances in the first minutes. As the game progressed, Sacred Heart established their possession game and began to threaten consistently on through balls behind Smithton's defensive line.

At the 20th minute, a quick pass from Ian Viscarra found the foot of Sam Bello. Bello then perfectly slotted the ball to the back corner to put the Gremlins up 1-0. Shortly after, SH took advantage of confusion on an indirect kick and Francisco Rojas scored to put the Gremlins up 2-0 at the half.

Feeding off a large Homecoming crowd, the Gremlins started the second half fast. A goal from Jaxon Beeler off a Sam Bello assist added to the lead just four minutes in the half. From there, the flood gates opened and the Gremlins put on an offensive display. Two goals from Ian Viscarra padded the Gremlin's lead to 5-0. Lucas Martin, normally part of the Gremlin's defense, saw a few minutes at forward and took advantage with a goal with five minutes remaining.

The Gremlins capped off the night with one of the most spectacular goals of the year. Sophomore mid-fielder Kobey Hill scored an amazing goal off a John Ulbrich cross, hitting a rocket into the top left corner of the goal.

The Gremlins move to 12-8 on the year and conclude their regular season against state ranked Southern Boone on Thursday at Clover Dell Soccer Park. The Gremlins appear to be peaking at the right time of the season and have high hopes of extending their Final Four appearances to five in a row.

In Junior Varsity action, the JV team remains undefeated on the year with a 5-0 win. Juan Fernandez and Brian Sierra each recorded two goals and junior Jacob Mertes added a 5th for the victory. The Junior Varsity squad is now 5-0-1 on the season.
