At a middle school in Sparks, Nevada, on Monday morning, a student shot and killed a teacher, then shot himself in the head fatally, according to early police reports.

The student also critically injured two other students, who are now at a local hospital receiving care. No one else, aside from the teacher and the shooter, were killed.

The danger is over, Reno's deputy police chief Tom Robinson told parents. "The schools are safe," he said. "The rest of the city is safe."

One student, 13, who witnessed the events from a nearby basketball court said, "The student was pointing a gun at the teacher after the teacher told him to put it down, and the student fired a shot at the teacher, and the teacher fell, and everybody ran away."

The shootings took place at about 7:15 a.m. PST, just as buses were dropping students off at the school. Police have not revealed the names of any of the victims at this point.
