State Fair Community College Selects Dr. Joanna Anderson as Next President

The SFCC Board of Trustees unanimously voted at a special closed meeting today (April 12) to enter into an employment contract with Anderson. She will begin her tenure as the next president on July 1, 2013.

“The board looks forward to the leadership that Dr. Anderson will bring to SFCC,” said Gary Noland, board president. “Throughout the search process, Dr. Anderson impressed both the board and the search committee with her passion and devotion to community colleges and the students we serve. She possesses an excellent combination of experience and leadership skills to help SFCC build on its long history of success and move confidently into the future.”

Anderson, 56, has 26 years of experience working in the community college setting. Since 2007 she has served as vice president for Student Services at Casper College, a community college of about 5,000 students in Casper, Wyo. She is one of three senior administrators who report to the president.

Before taking that position, she spent 21 years administering multiple departments at North Central Missouri College in Trenton, including serving as dean of Student Services, director of Public Relations, director of Admissions, and as an adjunct instructor.

Anderson received a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2010 from the University of Missouri; a Master of Science degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction in 1998 from William Woods University; a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Journalism in 1978 from the University of Missouri; and an Associate of Arts degree in 1976 from Trenton Junior College (North Central Missouri College).

Anderson was one of two finalists recommended to the board by the search committee to visit SFCC last week for an interview and public presentation.

Anderson was hired by the board with a two-year contract for a period from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015. Her salary for the 2013-2014 fiscal year will be $150,000.
