State Fair Community College will host one of Missouri’s annual “FAFSA Frenzy” events, November 10th, to help college-bound students apply for financial aid.

According to a press release from SFCC, students are now able to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) much earlier than before. Instead of beginning on January 1st, 2017, filing for the 2017-2018 FAFSA opened on October 1st. To be considered for state aid, the FAFSA should be filed by February 1st, and students are encouraged to file early.

The free workshop will be held from 3-7 p.m. in the Donald C. Proctor Library, in the Yeater Learning Center on the Sedalia campus.

'FAFSA Frenzy', a program of College Goal Sunday (CGS), offers free help to prospective and current students and parents in completing the FAFSA, the first step in applying for federal financial aid and many state programs.

Financial aid professionals will be on hand to assist families who will be able to complete the 2017-2018 FAFSA on site and obtain pertinent information about federal and state funding and scholarships. Attendees should bring their 2015 income and tax information rather than 2016 information.

Drawings will be held for scholarships for students attending the Missouri events. Winners will receive their scholarships upon receipt of enrollment verification for the 2017 fall term in a Missouri postsecondary program.

SFCC is one of 75 public sites hosting FAFSA Frenzy events.
