The Summer Reading Program is underway a Boonslick Regional Library. Children of all ages are able to sign up for the Summer Reading Program for a chance to win prizes from the library and local businesses across Sedalia.

Kids can keep track of their hours with a reading record which can be turned into prizes when enough hours have been completed. Ages 11 and under are required four hours per record and ages 12-18 and up require eight hours. Kids are able to turn in more than one completed record for more prizes. Completed records are also used as an entry for the grand prize drawing.

"We've had a lot of traffic at the library since school let out," says Jackie Oliphant of Boonslick Regional Library. "Kids and families have been coming to the library and the summer reading program is our busiest time of the year."

Reading hours can be completed via reading, listening to audiobooks, or having someone reading to kids, for the ones whom aren't able to read yet.

"Continuing to read during the summer is very important for kids to keep them ready to go back to school" says Oliphant.

Through Saturday June 10, participate in the silent auction. Many items are available to bid on. Proceeds go to the library to fund for future library programs.

Signups are available until July 31.
