4th of July

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite times of the year. I love to check out the various firework stands and of course see the big fireworks displays in the area. Our Video Reporter, Isaiah Smith, gives us a peak at the plans for the Sedalia Fourth of July Celebration at the Missouri State Fairgrounds...

Thursday is Independence Day, and cities and towns all across America will be celebrating in style—but not always in conventional fashion. Heck, not always in America either.

You can celebrate freedom and reasonable prices this Independence Day.

American popular music has been around since before America even declared its independence. 'Yankee Doodle,' anyone? That classic was sung by Colonial American soldiers as early as the French and Indian War. Here’s a list of 10 to add to your Fourth of July playlist:

You have seen them popping up all over: bright tents that hold all of the goodies that your little pyro heart desires. It's that time of year again, and many of you will flock to a firework tent here in the area to purchase some fireworks. What would the 4th of July be without fireworks?

With the 4th of July quickly approaching, the Sedalia Police Department would like to remind the citizens of Sedalia that buying, selling, displaying and shooting fireworks is prohibited within the city limits.  Violating the fireworks ordinance can result in a $109 fine and potentially some time in jail.

It’s time for Sedalia to make plans for the 4th of July celebrations again this year, there are two events that will make the planning easier.

The Old Fashioned Fourth of July happened at Centennial Park, even with the 100 degree temps. Families and friends enjoyed the parade in Downtown Sedalia where it's estimated 300 people watched the forty entries go down Ohio Street. The picnic happened at Centennial Park where over 700 hot dogs were served up by various volunteers under the leadership of Terry Cockrell...

Forget about the dawn’s early light, this Fourth of July is all about the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air and maybe even a couple of spiders. Those are the ones that, well, look kind of like a spider, anyway. Here are 10 great fireworks displays throughout the country. If your city didn’t make it, don’t worry — we’re sure it’s just as good.
