A lot of different events are happening around us for the Relay For Life.  The Relay is almost a year-round event, really, because these teams work so hard to get fundraising going.  They do everything they can think of to get members, donations and awareness out there.  The actual Relay event isn't until June, but that doesn't mean teams aren't hard at work. Around this time of year a lot of groups are gearing up for the big Relay for Life Fundraiser.  It's a great cause, and I'm sure all of us in some way or another have been touched by cancer.

Our Bids for Bargains Radio Auction is back, starting Mar. 18, 2013 at 12:05 p.m.  You’ll be able to catch the auction on the air on KIX 105 and Newstalk 1050.  The auction will be held Monday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m. each day.  You’ll have the opportunity to bid on tons of great items and save hundreds of dollars!

Before I tell you about the Johnson County Fire Auxiliary Spaghetti dinner and auction, let me tell you that I grew up in the rural areas of Knob Noster in Country Acres, and at one point, we had lightening hit our house and it caused a fire. Family Pawn of Sedalia was once again kind enough to donate a guitar for me to take to Memphis on my trip to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Lots of country stars were kind enough to sign the guitar for us.  We will auction the guitar to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at the 'Thom Shepherd & Friends' show at Dukes & Boots on Jan. 30.

In 1965 George Barris bought a 1955 Lincoln Futura for one dollar. He just auctioned it off for $4.6 million.

The Locash Cowboys put on a great show this past Saturday night (Dec. 15) at the Liberty Center.  Part of the night's festivities was a silent auction, which included a couple of LoCash autographed guitars.  The proceeds went to the Sedalia Lions Club Coats and Shoes program.

We've been mourning the sad loss of 'Calvin and Hobbes' ever since cartoonist Bill Watterson stopped producing the beloved comic strip in 1995. But apparently the strip hasn't gone completely forgotten, since a piece of original 'Calvin and Hobbes' artwork recently broke a record at auction by selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Child Safe of Central Missouri will hold their celebrity dessert auction tonight (Nov. 20).  You can get homemade desserts and help a great cause.  They use the term celebrity VERY loosely, but since they asked, this will be my third year donating to this event.
