Lub Dub Run Brings In Record Number of Participants

The 6th Annual Bothwell Regional Health Center's Foundation Lub Dub Run/Walk will go down in the record books as another successful event and improvement over years past. Each year the Lub Dub Run/Walk continues to bring more and more participants. This year, 515 participants came out in the rain on Saturday (April 26). This was the first year that the Foundation topped 500. Bothwell Regional Health Center Foundation Executive Director, Lisa Church, was very pleased with the outcome, minus the rain.

Doug Sleeps Away His Day Off, Doctor's Orders

Volunteer in Sedalia with the American Red Cross and Bothwell Auxiliary

Kids, if there's anything I've noticed about Sedalia, it's that people here care about their neighbors. And sometimes it can be something manifested in small ways - like helping shovel their walk, or checking on a neighbor, or donating to a local charity.

Well now, we've got another way that you can help and it doesn't cost anything but your time. If you’re interested in meeting new people and giving back to the community, Bothwell Regional Health Center has a place for you. Volunteer opportunities are open with the American Red Cross and the Bothwell Auxiliary.

I'll tell you one thing, though: while I do add all the charitable and fundraising events people organize around here, I am a sucker for a Blood Drive. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon paid a visit to Sedalia this afternoon (Feb. 28) to talk about his plan to strengthen Medicaid coverage in the State of Missouri. The governor spoke to a packed auditorium in the Education Center of Bothwell Regional Health Center about his plan that will benefit taxpayers as well as businesses and the economy of the state.

Wednesday, Jan 9, 2013, 5:30 a.m. Memo to self: Wake up, have a heart attack, panic.

While this is not a memo anyone would write to themselves, it happens even without a reminder. As it is with most people who have it happen. my heart attack should have been expected because I am a perfect candidate: overweight, a sedentary life style, and a penchant to worry too much about small things. On the plus side, I gave up smoking over 40 years ago, and my drinking has shrunk to an occasional beer. However, my love of things that have added to my weight and expanded my waistline put me in the “Matter of time” category.

Bothwell Regional Health Center Implements Video Remote Interpretation

Bothwell Regional Health Center has many people use its health services and in this area. English, Spanish and Ukrainian languages are pretty frequent to the hospital. Bothwell Regional Health Center has an interpreter, Ruth Cuevas, who on an average month follows 80 patients through the various departments at the main hospital and another 80 to 100 patients at Bothwell OB/GYN Associates and the Diagnostic Center. That is a lot of work for one interpreter to do, plus the team of help under Cuevas guidance.

Bothwell Regional Health Center now has additional help with the Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) is available at Bothwell Regional Health Center as well as at Bothwell OB/GYN Associates. The new option for interpreter coverage expands and improves communication for Limited English Proficiency patients and their families.

Local Celebrities Scoop Up Ice Cream for Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary [PHOTOS]

The Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary held their annual ice cream social last night (June 21) at the BRHC Cafeteria. The Auxiliary not only volunteers to run the gift shop at the hospital, but they also they host book fairs, scrub sales, and jewelry shows. The funds raised by the Auxiliary are returned to the health center by helping purchase health-care equipment and supporting the BRHC Foundation. Once a year they do the ice cream social where for $3.50 you get ice cream, homemade desserts and a drink, and it is very well worth it.

New Anesthesiologist Joins Bothwell Regional Health Center

Dr. Joseph Lucero has joined the staff of Bothwell Regional Health Center as an anesthesiologist. He received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, Tucson.
