UPDATED August 8 9:35 a.m.: The county's housing partnership, which bought the apartment complex with public funds, has elected not to enforce the policy, claiming its board of directors had no knowledge about the new rule. The right to bear arms is once again being challenged, but this time it comes with a unique twist.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Council wants managers of the city pension funds to avoid investing in gun manufacturers.

The right to bear arms is taking on a whole new look in one Texas city.

If you live in Nelson, Georgia, the government has decided that you must own a firearm.

On Wednesday morning, authorities found the body of a University of Central Florida student inside a dorm room, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A campus spokeswoman said that there were also improvised explosive devices and additional weapons in the room.

Keeping students and teachers safe has become a hot button issue in the US since the Sandy Hook shooting in December.

Guns Across America, an online community for those interested in gun related news and reviews, has organized Second Amendment rallies across the country that will take place tomorrow (Jan. 19) at 1 p.m.  The Missouri rally will take place at the Veterans Memorial behind the Capitol in Jefferson City.

The following is an open letter sent to President Barack Obama on the morning of Jan. 17 from Johnson County Sheriff Chuck Heiss in regard to the Obama Administration's recent  gun control proposal.

Wednesday afternoon, President Obama proposed numerous measures in response to a string of recent mass shootings across the country, including one at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in which 20 children and six adults were murdered by a gunman.
