It was the news we’d all be hoping and wishing and waiting for: last night, Marvel officially announced that they’ve reached an agreement with Sony for a Spider-Man crossover, which could also allow for MCU characters to crossover into Spidey’s own films. On top of that, Marvel is teaming up with Sony for a new ‘Spider-Man’ movie, to hit theaters in 2017. But who will play the web-slinger? As predicted, it won’t be Andrew Garfield. We’ve got a little more info on Marvel and Sony’s plans, which shed even more optimistic light on this very positive (and super exciting!) news.

Yesterday, Sir Patrick Stewart revealed that he would not, as was widely suspected, be returning for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. He did, however, tease his involvement in the next ‘Wolverine’ movie saying, “we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together.” He offered no further details, so we took this rumor straight to the man himself, Wolverine, and asked Hugh Jackman for some details.

We spoke to Hugh Jackman earlier today for his upcoming movie ‘Chappie’ (we’ll have much more on that movie soon), and as we were making small talk, we asked Mr. Jackman whether he had heard the news yet about Marvel and Sony Pictures coming to terms on an agreement that would allow Spider-Man to crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had not. He was very surprised.

By now you already know that Spider-Man is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of a new deal between Marvel and Sony. (By now you’ve also “SQUEEEE!”d about fifty times.) But this pact has ramifications beyond just the Wall-Crawler’s cinematic future. With Sony putting a new solo ‘Spider-Man’ movie on the release calendar for July 28, 2017, that’s necessitated some shuffling of Marvel’s own upcoming movies.

Not much is known about ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ yet, and that’s just the way Marvel wants it. But, just because we know nothing about ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ doesn’t mean that Marvel knows nothing about it. Director James Gunn said he sat down with the studio to detail his vision for the upcoming superhero sequel, and their reaction was, “Whoa. That’s risky.”

Marvel stars Chris Pratt and Chris Evans—Seahawks and Patriots fans, respectively—made a bet on Twitter on which of their teams would win the Super Bowl. At stake? The loser would have to visit a local charity dressed as their superhero. The Patriots beat the Seahawks in dramatic fashion, so Pratt, in full Star-Lord costume, lived up to his end of the bargain and visited Christopher's Haven, a home for kids and their families battling cancer in Boston.

We know that Tony Stark's Iron Man suit is powerful—when fully charged, it can lift over 100 tons—but, we probably didn't realize just how heavy it is. The original suit in the first ‘Iron Man’ movie weighed over 90 lbs. That's big, hot costume to have to act in all day. And, to think, it was almost not even Robert Downey, Jr. underneath all that armor. Everybody knows by know of the Stan Lee cameos in the Marvel movies, and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ is no exception. You probably also recognized the voice of Gary Sinise as the narrator of the Captain America exhibit at the Smithsonian in the movie. The ‘X-Men’ franchise is headed for an ‘Apocalypse’ in the near future, making headlines left and right with its latest castings, but a small-screen outing of Marvel’s mightiest mutants might evolve into place as early as 2016. FOX has confirmed development on a potential ‘X-Men’ TV series, though Disney may well block the efforts.

Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ has yet to release a frame of footage from its forthcoming Netflix TV series, but that hasn’t stopped followup series ‘AKA Jessica Jones’ from pushing forward. Not only do we know ‘Who’ the major villain of the Krysten Ritter super-detective drama will be, but David Tennant himself will portray the mysterious purple baddie.
