One of the major backbones of any county or state fair is the 4-H organization, which has its own building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds to showcase all the county winners for things like art, photography, quilting, baking, cooking and much more.

Day eight of the Missouri State Fair is here!  It is Thrifty Thursday, where you can get admission for $4 for adults and kids ages 6-12 are just $1.  The Missouri State Fair will also officially recognize the Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department's 50 years of service

The Missouri State Fair is full of places to eat. If you show up around noon, you're bound to see a trail of people outside the Beef House, and then there is the Beef Depot right behind it.  While getting a great steak or hamburger is a one of many memories at the Missouri State Fair, in recent years people have also made time to stop in the Beef Showcase that is organized by the Missouri Cattlewoman's Association.

The Missouri State Fair is preparing for its first and last Tuesday of the 2012 Season, and I took my family to the fairgrounds.  With the Truck and Tractor Pull and the great weather we had, it was a nice night to roam the grounds.  We landed in one of our favorite buildings, the Agriculture Building, which you need to check out.

The Missouri State Fair is in day six and it is Missouri Farmers Care Food Drive Tuesday, in cooperation with Ford and Missouri Farmers to benefit Missouri Food Bank Association.  Visitors to the Fair can save up to $5 on gate admission today with canned food donations.

The Missouri State Fair is into Day 5 and it's a chance to thank our farmers further.  Monday, August 13, is Farm Bureau/Farm Family Day to celebrate Missouri Farm Families.  Coupons and tractor pull discounts are available at county Farm Bureau offices

I had a couple of duties throughout Saturday (August 11) that I like to call the perks of the job.  I hung out in the Bud Tent to introduce Jason Cassidy at the 2 p.m. show.  Even though he was running a little bit behind since he had a late night in Wichita, he played an assortment of music from Montgomery Gentry to Jamey Johnson, and then music from his new CD on A Blake Records, My Redemption.  He shared a story during the set that the title track was that he got away from going to church and then sometime when he met his wife, he came back to the church.  He got a good round of applause for that and also the set he put on.  If you missed out on him, you can see him play again today (Sunday, August 12) at 2 and 6 p.m.

Each year during the Missouri State Fair there is a day dedicated to the Missouri Farm Bureau.  Today (August 12) is Missouri Farm Bureau/Farm Family Day at the Missouri State Fair.
