Jack’s Mid-Missouri Memories: Fair Again

Some people wonder where I get ideas for my "Mid-Missouri memories." One of those sources is in town right now, and like most people in Sedalia, there are a lot of memories through those gates of the Missouri State Fairgrounds. As someone who grew up in Sedalia, it would be strange if I didn’t have a lot of merry-go-round and roller coaster memories from that yearly event. The main memories I have however, have nothing to do with fair rides.

Behka’s Buildings at the Fair: The Agriculture Building [PHOTOS]

There is so much stuff going on at the Missouri State Fair that is so important to people in our area. Farming, agriculture and youth in farming are so very vital to our way of life. So of course, a lot of what goes on at the Fair is showing off how great they all are! These farmers and their families really work so incredibly hard to produce such wonderful livestock and product, and it's a great showcase for all their talents.

Missouri State Fair Takes Action Regarding Events at Rodeo, Mark Wolfe Discusses the Incident [INTERVIEW]

Along with all the great memories of corn dogs, funnel cakes, the carnival rides, and wonderful shows, the 2013 Missouri State Fair will be remembered as the year of the clown. While that one incident should not be thought of as a reflection of the fair, it will take awhile for that memory to fade into the background.

Concerts at the Pepsi Grandstand: What’s the Holdup? [OPINION]

Saturday night (Aug. 10) was the big Randy Houser and Gary Allan concert, and fans came out in flocks to see this highly anticipated show. A line started to form early and made its way down the Midway. The introduction was done and you could hear Randy Houser finish his first song, so why was the line still down the Midway and back to the Hacienda?

One of the major standing spots that everyone seems to make sure to hit at the Missouri State Fair is the Conservation Building.  It's  open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily with fish and other live animal exhibits.
