Downtown Sedalia was the starting point of one of the most anticipated races of the year, the Sedalia Criterium.  A heat advisory meant that temperatures were well into the upper nineties, and the heat index brought things well into the 100 degree range.  But, that didn't stop the dedicated from coming down and cheering on the racers.

Historic Downtown Sedalia was the backdrop once again for the 2013 Sedalia Downtown Criterium Bike Race. The races started around 4 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 24), starting with the first of five men's races.They also held two women's races and one junior race. The Final Men's Race started at 9 p.m.

This weekend is the Criterium Bike Race in historic Downtown Sedalia. The high speed downtown bicycle race has had as many as 200 entries in the past and takes place this Saturday on a 0.7 mile course.
