The Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning at 111 West Fourth, the new location for the Sedalia Democrat.

Harper originally was charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, first-degree robbery and unlawful use of a weapon in the April 2018 shooting death of 42-year-old Maurice Harper Sr. in Sedalia.

According to a Facebook post on the Sedalia Democrat's website, the local paper will implement a paywall on their website starting Monday, July 30.  The cost will be $5 a month to view stories on the content.  Subscribers will receive free access to the site.

KSIS and the Sedalia Democrat are giving you a chance to get to know the candidates for this year's general election at an upcoming forum.  A candidates forum will begin at 6 p.m. this Wednesday, July 25 in the Thompson Conference Center of the Heckart Science and Allied Health Center on the State Fair Community College campus.  The candidates for assessor, treasurer, eastern commissioner and
