The Sedalia Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday (April 12) in the 2000 block of US Highway 65. The checkpoint was conducted on the southbound lanes of the highway between 10 p.m. on Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Sedalia Police Department will be specifically focusing on preventing and deterring impaired driving in Sedalia this April. The enforcement could range from saturation patrols to sobriety checkpoints.
The Sedalia Police conducted their Sobriety Checkpoint on Saturday night (June 29). Traffic from Thompson Blvd. traveling to 16th Street was directed up to State Fair Boulevard where several police officers stopped the cars. The sobriety checkpoint lasted from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. As of 12:30 a.m. there were over 200 drivers that went through the checkpoint and there were five arrests made for various charges including driving under the influence, open container in the vehicle and driving while suspended. The full results are expected to be released this Wednesday.
A recent press release from the Sedalia Police Department this states the department will be conducting a “DWI” checkpoint within the Sedalia city limits during the month of June. The sobriety checkpoint will be set up at an undisclosed location.
