University of Central Missouri Professor Mia Kim will perform during a concert on Feb. 20 at UCM.

In a celebration that showcased student talents ranging from poetry reading to innovative dance and participation in a Jazz Combo, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Scholarship Banquet at the University of Central Missouri on Jan. 16 honored the civil rights leader’s legacy by presenting financial awards to deserving students and celebrating the arts.

UCM Theatre and Dance will once again perform its original dance play, “Remember the Dance,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15.

Activities throughout January, including the presentation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Scholarships to University of Central Missouri students, the Community Praise and Worship Service, and Day of Service activities in Warrensburg and in Lee’s Summit, highlight the 2024 MLK Celebration.

Missouri sculptor Gary Staab will display his work at the University of Central Missouri's Gallery of Art and Design.

The board approved a five-year contract with an option for one, two-year contract renewal with Varsity Brand Holdings/BSN, which will provide Nike products.

The celebration brings families, friends and students together for four ceremonies honoring approximately 1,400 individuals.

A recent ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the renovation of The Ozark Dining Facility at Whiteman Air Force Base not only introduced base personnel and guests to updates on an important food service center, but recognized the partnership between University of Central Missouri students and faculty members who helped make the vision for this redesign project a reality.
