SEDALIA (Tony Gallagher, 40 & 8 Commander) -  Veteran's Day 2013!  What a great day from start to finish!  The S-C JROTC served a delicious breakfast to all veterans and their families at the high school.  This was followed by a great program in the gymnasium with honors paid to all the veterans.  I very much appreciated being asked to be the main speaker and was humbled.

What a great night of entertainment at the Liberty Center on Saturday night (Nov. 10)! Taking center stage with his band was Royal Wade Kimes. Kimes has worked with some of the biggest names in country entertainment, including Loretta Lynn and Garth Brooks (Kimes helped write, "We Bury the Hatchet" which sold 17 million copies). Other giants he has worked with include Diamond Rio, Gene W

STANDING WITH OUR VETERANS, AS THEY STOOD FOR US By Gov. Jay Nixon One in 12 Missourians – almost half a million of our state’s 6 million citizens – have served in our nation’s armed forces. Now ranging in age from their early twenties to over 95 years old, they defended the freedoms we hold dear, both during times of conflict and times of peace.

Show Me Honor Flight veterans were welcomed home last night (Oct. 29), and what a welcoming they received! As they exited of I-70 from their all day event, they were greeted by 25 roaring motorcycles waiting for them at Marshall Junction to escort them home. As they came into Sedalia and over the railroad tracks downtown, a large group of citizens were there to greet them, as well as the Sedalia F

Not All Veterans Agree With the President Bashing at Saturday’s Rally [OPINION]
As a veteran, I did not like the idea of the rally at the courthouse on Saturday (Oct. 12) turning into a Republican event that took every opportunity it could to bash the President of the United States. Some veterans believe they speak for all veterans when they speak out against the president, but some of us have our own ideas of where the blame lies.

Well, it was a great Saturday (Oct. 12), showing support at the Sedalia courthouse and being a member of the 40 & 8.  I’m proud to say that I’m a veteran.  Now with that said, we held a veterans' rally at the same time the rally was going on in Washington D.C., where rally members picked up the barricades and carried them to the White House in protest of the shutdown of the memorials and the t

The Korean War may have happened over 60 years ago and may be called the “Forgotten War,” but it was remembered by those who gathered at the Sedalia VFW on Sunday afternoon (June 23). Eighteen Korean War vets were on hand to be recognized for their service by the Sedalia VFW. Post Commander Larry Reven and Service Coordinator Gary Gill led the program that was held in honor of the 63rd Anniversary
