Today is a day that we salute and thank our law enforcement for what they do across the state.

The tough job that they do, they get rewarded today with free gate admission for law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, with appropriate I.D. Gate admission for their immediate family members will be $1.

I think a lot of times, we may give security flack or get mad or upset at them when we get pulled over or stopped along the highway or even questioned.

I know a lot of people who don't go on the roads, when the Missouri State Fair is going on, because they know it is saturated with law enforcement, especially on the roads. This year, became a test as Missouri State Highway Patrol got called to Ferguson, but they still maintained security around our beautiful fair.

Thanks to all the men and women who proudly serve, whether you're the Missouri State Highway Patrol, City Police, Sheriff's Departments, EMT's, First Responders, 911 Operators or fire departments.

Be sure to look at the Highway Patrol cars and boats near the Centennial Gate, see the antique fire truck at the Fire House, say hi to the Sheriff's Department in the Ag Building and thank them for what they do as you go around.

Enjoy your day at the Fair!
