I know, I know. It all seems so.... INTIMIDATING. Just getting started to run for a beginner can be extremely tough, especially without a plan. Bothwell Regional Health Center is here to help and get everyone going just a little bit more each week. The Couch to 5k Training plan can help any new runner start up in their running experience.   If you follow it with a positive mindset, you will no doubt succeed.
All you need in order to begin this plan is some running shoes, around 10-30 minutes of a few days each week, and 10 weeks worth of motivation. Once you’ve started up, then you’ll be able to get off that couch and in shape in no time.  Bothwell Regional Health Center, Healthy U,  and Moving 101 are working with lots of local and area businesses to motivate Sedalia to start moving this spring.  I got to speak with Stephanie Fraley of Healthy U about the upcoming Couch to 5k Kickoff party and signup on February 26.

Healthy U will once again be doing a couch to 5K program and this year's event will again culminate with the Lub Dub 5K. However, participation in the Lub Dub is NOT required for completion of the Couch 2 5K. Come on out to our kick-off event to learn more! The Couch 2 5K is free and open to the public of all ages. It'll be held on February 26 at 6:30 p.m. at
the Thompson Conference Center, located in the Heckart Science and Allied Health Center at State Fair Community College.

If you are not able to attend  the kick-off event, you are still encouraged to participate! You may pick up a registration form and training schedule at the Bothwell Education Center, Pettis County Health Center, Pettis County MU Extension office, or the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri. Forms can also be found online at brhc.org, on Facebook, or by emailing hupettiscounty@gmail.com.
