The Daum Museum is one of the hidden gems of Sedalia.  I think it's something we're all familiar with and we've probably been  a few times. But the Daum is always changing, growing and expanding to cover different areas of art and technology and innovation.

Thomas Piche with the Daum Museum came by to tell me about some of the work that's been featured recently.  One that started right after the Missouri State Fair was "In Ruins: Michael Schultz, Steven Montgomery, Raymon Elozua."  Then there's also the "Fit to Print" exhibit, which according to their website,  is quite complex:

Fit to Print well-illustrates how contemporary artists have found the opportunity to expand their creativity through the print mediums’ varied avenues of investigation. Approximately 75 diverse prints, ranging in date from the late 1960s to 2012, will illustrate a variety of artistic movements, styles, and print-making techniques. Fit to Print offers examples of the germinal experiments of Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg; Pop art statements by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and James Rosenquist; Minimal and Conceptual compositions by Sol LeWitt, Ellsworth Kelly, and Frank Stella; and examples from the “Pictures Generation,” including works by Eric Fischl, Robert Longo, and David Salle. A special feature of the exhibition is a group of fifteen prints, newly acquired from ULAE and not shown before at the Daum. Among this section are lithographs by Kiki Smith and Ellen Gallagher, as well as intaglio prints by Elizabeth Murray, Jasper Johns, and Mark Fox.

I spoke with Museum Director, Thomas Piche, about those exhibits and the regular collections on display at the Daum.

The Daum Museum is always free. You can go by Tuesday through Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays they're open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can always check out their website, or you can call at 660-530-5888. You can also find them on Facebook.

Artistically yours,
Behka
