After months of fans pestering director Wes Ball for a look on social media, 'The Maze Runner' trailer has finally debuted online, giving us our first look at footage from this new young-adult genre adaptation. It's timed so it will be screened in front of the next big young-adult hit, 'Divergent' (which is trying to be the new 'Hunger Games,' so there's a circle of life thing here). With 20th Century Fox already working on a sequel, it's possible they've got another winner on their hands.

The trailer sets up the basics, that 'Teen Wolf' star Dylan O'Brien is trapped in a maze (aka "The Glade") that seemingly offers no escape, but hope comes in Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), a possible love interest who may help him remember important things that could release all of those trapped.

MTV, who revealed the trailer during 'Teen Wolf,' have been big on promoting this film, which is smart as it stars someone from one of their shows, and building a steady drumbeat of interest in a project seems to work, as Lionsgate and Summit proved with both the 'Hunger Games' and 'Divergent' franchises. Studios are still chasing the young-adult book adaptation dollar, but films like 'Beautiful Creatures,' 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' and 'Vampire Academy' have shown that there's a tricky science to getting the target audience excited for these films.

'The Maze Runner' is scheduled to hit theaters September 19.
