Thelma Bailey, 82, of rural Windsor, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012, at her home.
She was born September 24, 1930 in Windsor, Mo., the daughter of Earl Taylor Garland and Myrtle May (Crews) Garland. On June 25, 1949, at the Christian Church parsonage in Windsor, she married Murrel Edward Bailey and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1995.
Thelma worked at the Windsor International Shoe Factory for several years. She later worked at the Windsor Senior Center for many years, retiring in 1992. She was a faithful member of the Brandon United Methodist Church, rural Windsor. She enjoyed the many trips she took with her friends. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and baking and she “loved those grandkids.”
Survivors include 3 sons, Ronnie D. Bailey and his wife Cathy, Green Ridge, Mo.; Dencil Bailey and his wife Deborah, Sedalia, Mo.; Brian Bailey, Shawnee, Kansas; 4 grandsons, Eddie Bailey, Nick Bailey, Weston Bailey and Garrett Bailey; a brother, Dean Garland, Greenwood, Mo.; a sister, Verna Walters, Calhoun, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Murrel E. Bailey, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Bailey; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Peggy Eshelman officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
