Thomas Richard Bates, 66

Thomas Richard Bates, 66, of Warsaw, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 7, 1947 in Omaha, NE, a son of Norman and Lucille Bates.

On September 3, 1978 in Denver, CO, he was united in marriage to Janice G. Underwood, who survives of the home.

Thomas loved reading, dancing, traveling, and fishing. He attended the 1st Christian Church in Warsaw, MO. Thomas served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, retiring in 1994 from Whiteman Air Force Base as Master Sargent after 28 years of service.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, John L. Underwood of Concordia, KS, Janell R. Underwood of Florence, SC; one sister, Debbie Campbell (Giles) of Lake Elsinore, CA; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Derrick, Zachary, Jered, Jordan, Janae, Justin, MaKaya, Brieann; and five great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jason R. Underwood.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, February 3, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Bowen officiating

Interment will be at a later date.
