Two Sedalians and one woman from Fortuna were injured in a two-car crash that occurred Thursday night around 9:40 p.m. In Johnson County.

The crash happened on eastbound 50, one-quarter mile east of County Road 151st as a 2007 Kia driven by Erika N. Johnson, 23, Sedalia, struck a towed unit behind a 2005 Chevrolet driven by Timothy L. Smith, 47, Concordia. The Chevy was slowing to make a right-hand turn when the accident occurred.

Johnson suffered moderate injuries, while her passengers, Brandyn C. Porter, 23, Sedalia; and Tiffany D. Traweek, 24, Fortuna, suffered serious injuries. All three were transported to Research Medical Center by EMS.

The Chevy was driven from the scene, while the Kia was towed. Both drivers were wearing a safety device, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. The Johnson County Sheriff's Department assisted the Patrol with the investigation.
