A two-vehicle accident injured two people on Friday morning due to a driver being blinded by the rising sun.

According to a Sedalia Police Department report, the accident happened at 8 a.m. at 32nd and Aaron Ave., when John Leary, Sedalia, said the glare of the sun obstructed his view as he drove eastbound on 32nd. He was the driver of a 2010 Ford F-150 which struck an eastbound 2011 Chevy Equinox driven by Kiersten Labus, Sedalia.

She told officers she had just taken her foot off the brake and onto the accelerator when she was struck from behind. Her vehicle had extensive damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, the report said.

The report also stated that Leary appeared to have back pain, but refused medical treatment at the scene, saying it was an pre-existing injury. Labus appeared to have a neck injury, but also declined medical treatment at the scene.
