Two Marshall residents were injured in a one-car crash that occurred in Lafayette County shortly after noon today.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 74-year-old Richard G. Hoffman of Marshall was the driver of a westbound 1997 Lincoln on I-70 a Mile Marker 50.2 at 12:03 p.m., when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a concrete bridge wall. The Lincoln then returned to the roadway when the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise and travel off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and strike a tree.

Hoffman suffered minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Fitzgibbons by private vehicle, while his passenger, 69-year-old Patricia C. Hickock of Marshall, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital by Higginsville EMS, according to the report.

Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing a safety device. The Lincoln was totaled and towed from the scene.
