Two Men Sentenced for Roles in Drug Conspiracy That Claimed Three Lives

Two Missouri men have been sentenced for their roles in a drug-trafficking conspiracy that left three people dead during a suburban Kansas City home invasion.

U.S. Attorney Tammy Dickinson says 34-year-old Antonio Cervantes III of Independence was sentenced on Thursday to 10 years in federal prison without parole, while 29-year-old Carlos Zambrano Jr. of Kansas City was sentenced to five years.

Both pleaded guilty to their involvement in a conspiracy to steal as much as three pounds of methamphetamine from an Independence home in November 2012. During the botched robbery, Martin Dominguez-Gregorio, his girlfriend, Maria Guadalupe Hernandez-Corona, and her son, Antonio Hernandez were killed. Maria Hernandez's 12-year-old son was shot but survived.

Two men who fired the fatal shots pleaded guilty and will serve 27 years in prison.
