A Nevada man died after a May 9 accident on US 54 in Vernon County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a horse trailer came unhooked from a Dodge Ram and traveled into the lane of oncoming traffic, where it was struck by a 2002 Ford F-350. The driver of the Ford, 64-year-old Ronald D. Hughes, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vernon County Coroner around 9:40 p.m.


A 26-year-old woman from El Dorado Springs was killed on May 9 in a one-vehicle accident in Cedar County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Cassandra R. Hocking was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 when it went off the roadway and overturned. Hocking was pronounced dead by Deputy Cedar County Coroner Nora Powell.
