Sometimes we all like to try something a little bit different. Why not go back in time and try out the dancing and music of the '40s with the University Of Central Missouri?

Big band fans are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the University of Central Missouri’s Big Band Dinner and Dance, featuring Russ Coleman and the UCM Faculty and Alumni Big Band, at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, in the Elliott Student Union ballroom. Vocalists Jeff Imboden and Kristee Haney will provide the lyrics for all of the favorites, including the big band standards by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and a host of others. Guests will enjoy a variety of culinary selections offered by Sodexo’s Chef Dale, along with beverages from the cash bar, hot coffee and a dessert bar. Patrons may bring their own bottle of wine for an appropriate corkage fee.

Tickets for the event, sponsored by the UCM Department of Music and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, are $50 per person, which includes all food, tea and coffee and the dance. Tickets for a table for two adjacent to the dance floor are available for $120, and tables for 8-10 may be reserved by special reservation. Tickets are available from the Central Tickets box office from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday by calling 660-543-8888, or online at ucmpas.com. Proceeds from the event will benefit UCM’s academic fine arts programs and the Johnson County Cancer Foundation.

Swingingly yours,
Behka
