The University of Central Missouri will host the 76th annual session of the American Legion Missouri Boys State June 13-20 on the Warrensburg campus.

Nearly 1,000 young men from across the state will participate in the week-long leadership and training program. The participants must have completed their junior year in high school and must have distinguished themselves as leaders in their high school and community.

Karl Rove, senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush and Fox News contributor, will accept the 27th Annual George W. Lehr Memorial Speakers Chair and deliver the keynote address at the general assembly Monday evening, June 15.

Central Missouri junior golfer Travis Mays was named to the Capital One At-Large Academic All-America Third Team as announced on Wednesday morning. This is the first Academic All-America honor of his career.

Mays led the Mules with a 73.28 stroke average this year and was the MIAA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season after finishing first in the conference's season-long points standings. He had eight top 10 finishes, including four top five finishes and one tournament title. He tied for individual medalist honors at the Missouri Western Regional Invite and was second in a playoff at the MIAA Championship Tournament.
