KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patients can begin receiving treatment this month at a new dental clinic at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

The university says the Dr. Charles Dunlap Innovation Center for Research and Education in Technology is a test and simulation lab. Dental and dental hygiene students will rotate through the center while receiving hands-on training. Six manufacturers donated equipment to ensure that students are using state-of-the-art equipment.

Students also will receive training in the business side of running a dental practice.

The Innovation Center at the School of Dentistry is a partnership with the Center for Research and Education in Technology, a group of leaders from the dental industry. CRET also partnered with Loma Linda School of Dentistry in California to create a clinic.
