Van Lee Davis age 86 of Sedalia passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born on August 14, 1928 in Joplin, Missouri son of Horace Lee and Muriel VanPelt Davis. On March 4, 1949 in Carrollton, Missouri he married Virginia Lea Sebastian and she survives of the home.

Van was raised in Oklahoma until he was eight years old, he then moved to Ray County, Missouri. He graduated from Stet High School. He worked for Missouri Public Service for 36 years retiring in 1990. Van was a member of First United Methodist Church. A fifty year member of Granite Lodge 272, where he was a past master. He was also a member of the Royal Arch Masons and Sedalia York Rite. A past member of the Ararat Shrine. He was a member of the Order Of The Arrow. He was former scout master of Troop 54. Van enjoyed camping, woodworking and spending winters in Texas.

Besides his wife, he is survived by twin sons; Dudley Kirk Davis of Sedalia and David Kent Davis (Dawn) of Raliegh, North Carolina, one sister; Sharon Newman of Eminence, Missouri, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Sammy Joe Davis, one daughter; Lynda Ann Courtney, one sister; Mary Ann Hogan.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at First United Methodist Church 4th & Osage with Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. and Rev. Tom Shouse officiating.

There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. Friday, with visitation to follow until 8:30 P.M. on October 3, 2014 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Homan, Dan Homan, Jim White, Lowell Hesterlee, Dan Wissman and Norman Alcorn. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Friedly and Ralph Eye. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia.
