Police in Hannibal, Missouri made two arrests, and discovered a vehicle stolen from Montana, after responding to a call regarding a suspicious person on Monday.

According to the Hannibal Police Department, officers were called to a business when a man attempted to cash a personal check without proper identification. The man was driving a vehicle with out of state plates.

When police arrived, 26-year-old  Christopher M Garrison and 24-year-old Torrie L. Van Pelt were found sitting inside the vehicle. Police say the two gave conflicting reports on what they were doing. Officers then discovered that the vehicle they were driving was reported stolen out of Montana.

Garrison reportedly admitted to burglarizing a house and stealing a car in North Dakota and stealing other vehicles in Montana and Wyoming.

Both Garrison and Van Pelt were arrested and are being held in the Marion County Jail.
