The American Red Cross held a blood donation drive in the Thompson Conference Center on the campus of State Fair Community College.  The blood drive was scheduled months in advance but became highly important due to Hurricane Sandy.

Hurricane Sandy has forced the cancellation of more than 100 American Red Cross blood drives in 11 states along the East Coast, resulting in a shortfall of more than 3,200 blood and platelet donations already.

Many students as well as citizens of Sedalia and the surrounding areas came to donate blood.  Some individuals came by and said they could not donate blood but would still love to help.

If you are unable to give blood or missed the blood drive today you can still give a financial donation. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters. Visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
