This week Dale Malone from Dukes & Boots posed a question on Facebook about what new foods you'd like to see on the menu. This last Wednesday at lunch, a bunch of our staff got together for the KIX 105 Wednesday lunch and discussed some of the great things that could be brought to the table. Our Events Coordinator Leslee is currently going through the Healthy U Program and we started talking about how it would be interesting if a bar and grill took a healthy way of thinking, one that would surprise people that it was on the menu and would still be unique to Sedalia.

I personally would like to submit the idea of a falafel. Last year, my wife and I went to The Milwaukee City Market and had it for lunch at Aladdin's Eatery and it was fantastic. I quickly discovered that several of us at the table never knew what a felafel even was. A felafel is a deep fried ball or patty made from chickpeas or fava beans. It is usually served in a pita type sandwich form. Throw in some hummus or tahini sauce and I think you'd be pleasantly surprised by the taste.

One of the concerns brought up was that there was not any meat in falafel and nobody would eat it. I beg to differ; while it may not become a #1 ordered item on a restaurant's menu, it would give people a nice alternative. I know when I was in Milwaukee at the City Market, the Aladdin had people waiting in line to order a falafel and the lunch was under $7 in total.

This little taste of the Middle East could go a long way on a menu in Sedalia. What new foods wood you like to see available in Sedalia?
