William (Bill) Grover Ray age 83 of Sedalia passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born on August 4, 1930 in Sedalia son of George Wilton and Hazel Davis Ray. He was married to Geneva Ruth (Babe) Harvey and she preceded him in death. Bill graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1949 where he enjoyed playing football and basketball. He had a football scholarship to attend University of Central Missouri.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS Howard W. Gilmore in Key West, Florida. Bill worked at Mid Mo Electric in Sedalia for 20 years and then for Broadway Lanes for 30 years. He served on the Sedalia Parks & Recreation Department Board and was a member of the Elks. He enjoyed community sports such as softball, baseball, basketball and also enjoyed hunting & fishing.

He is survived by a daughter; Charlotte Ray (Darren) of Bethpage, TN, two sons; Dave Ray (Kim) of Lee's Summit, MO, and Doug Ray of Alabama, two brothers; Paul Wilton Ray (Margaret) of Lee's Summit and Robert Ray of Ft. Collins, Colorado, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the funeral home and also from 12:00 Noon until service time on Wednesday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Ray, Cris Williams, Rocky Ray, Brian Graves, Dalton Graves and Austin Graves. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be full military honors at the cemetery by V.F.W. Post # 2591.
